2019 Jacksonville Jaguars Offseason Updates and Reasons to be Excited
We’ve got a soft spot for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the local heroes who won 10 regular-season games and came close to the Super Bowl in the 2017 season and then took a few steps back in the 2018 campaign, falling to a 5-11 record. But there’s plenty of hope to be found for the 2019 season, based on the natural improvements that young teams like the Jags make, as well as new faces we will see coming in from the NFL Draft and from free agency before the 2019 NFL regular season starts!
Read on to find some updates of the Jacksonville Jaguars offseason moves so far, and some reasons to be excited about the 2019 season!

Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Offseason Updates
The Jags have made a handful of moves since the NFL season ended a few months ago, but they will be more active very soon, starting March 13, 2019 with the opening of free agency.
Some moves to be excited about:
- Josh Lambo, a kicker who has made 93 percent of his field goal attempts in two seasons with the Jaguars, signed a four-year extension in February.
- Running back Thomas Rawls (1,336 career rushing yards in four seasons) and quarterback Alex McGough (9,091 passing yards with 65 TD passes while playing for Florida International from 2014-2017) signed to futures/reserves contracts in January.
Reasons to be Excited about the Jaguars in 2019
Leonard Fournette Will Return
The Jags’ top running back, Leonard Fournette, was hurt for a large part of 2018 and missed seven games due to injury, but we hope and expect the battering ram to punish defenses more in 2019 like he did in his rookie season in 2017, when Fournette had 1,040 rushing yards to go with 9 touchdowns on the ground, including an epic 90-yard run where he also got to show off his speed.
High NFL Draft Pick
The Jags have the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, a spot that can easily yield Pro Bowl talent like Adrian Peterson (#7 pick in 2007), if not future hall of famers like Champ Bailey, the #7 pick in 1999 and a recent selection into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The “Jason Mendoza Factor”
The fictional character from NBC’s “The Good Place” has shown a lot of love for Blake “BORTLES!” Bortles, the Jags’ starting quarterback for the past five seasons, and while Blake had a bit of a down year in 2018 and we’re not completely sure the Jags will start him in 2019, we’ve got to believe Blake will play well in 2019, if for no other reason than we’d like to see Manny Jacinto (who plays Jason Mendoza in “The Good Place”) at another playoff game in Jacksonville. Jacinto attended the Jags’ home playoff game vs. the Buffalo Bills on 1/7/2018, a 10-3 win.
