2019 Kia Forte Design and Performance Overview
Taking some inspiration from the incredibly popular Kia Stinger, the all-new Kia Forte is evolving into a more refined compact sedan. Featuring updated engineering for a better performance and a more sophisticated presence, the Forte is more than just a commuter car. So, check out our all-new 2019 Kia Forte design and performance overview before you come see it at our dealership!
The now available 2019 Kia Forte underwent various improvements that were inspired by the new Kia Stinger to add to its already sporty image. This includes its fastback-like shape with a long hood and short deck. Plus, the Forte’s cowl point was moved back by about 5-inches, allowing for a more athletic stance. And the hood creases, newly designed signature tiger nose grille and black lower valance add to the muscular appearance and enhance the distinctive Forte personality.
Then, for an impressive entrance and departure, the Stinger-inspired headlamps can be either the standard projection or available full LEDs which are highlighted with the separate turn signals that are mounted near the redesigned air curtains. The rear bumper receives a similar look with separate reverse and turn signal lights that are located below the available LED taillights. And to finish off the look, there is a sleek horizontal trim piece that connects the two taillights.

2019 Kia Forte Powertrain
To power the new 2019 Forte, the compact sedan is equipped with a second-generation 2.0-liter Nu 4-cyliner engine that features Atkinson Cycle technology and a cooled EGR system. While those technologies are usually included on hybrid and electric vehicles, the Forte features them in order to help boost fuel efficiency. The engine is still able to produce up to 147-horsepower and deliver 132 pound-feet of torque. And it can be paired with either the standard 6-speed manual transmission or the available all-new Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) system.
As the first in the new line of highly efficient “Smart Stream” powertrains from Kia, the engine and in-house-built IVT will be making their way into the future Kia lineup. Kia’s IVT system has been designed to address issue that are often associated with CVT, such as the “rubber-band-like feel” and noise. So, the IVT system is designed with adaptive style shift logic that uses a chain-type belt to create smooth and linear acceleration, as well as a sound-insulating cover wrapped around the transmission case for a quieter ride.
