2022 Kia Carnival vs 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

The 2022 Kia Carnival and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica offer drivers a taste of veteran performance or refreshing innovation and value. These family haulers are fully loaded with good power, plenty of space, and cutting-edge tech. Below is a comprehensive breakdown comparing the two to help you decide which minivan or SUV may best suit your family’s wants and needs.

Interior Comparison

Both the 2022 Kia Carnival and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica boast a roomy interior with seating for 7 – 8. The two cars offer a longer wheelbase with enough legroom and headroom to the comfort of passengers. The interior also looks better due to generous equipment such as tri-zone automatic climate control and more.

Speaking of cargo space, the 2022 Kia Carnival promises 40.2 cubic feet of space, thanks to the third row, which expands to 141.5 cubic feet with the second row deleted and all seats folded. This makes the car great for hauling long cargo or even packing a week’s shopping. The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica on the other hand, boasts 140.5 cubic feet of cargo room, with folding and stowable seats in both the second and third rows.

Performance Comparison

The 2022 Kia Carnival and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica are far from performance cars, but that’s just okay. The cars are built to be efficient, not fast. The 2022 Kia Carnival is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers up to 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This power routes via an 8-Speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, the Carnival is front-wheel drive (FWD) only. There’s no option for All Wheel Drive (AWD). On the other hand, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is propelled by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, however, there’s a hybrid option for EV enthusiasts. As for the drivetrain, the car is offered as either All Wheel Drive (optional) or Front Wheel Drive (standard). The plug-in hybrid is only FWD.

Technology Comparison

The Chrysler Pacifica leads this category with an assortment of features. It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming feature, satellite radio, a blind-spot camera, a multi-angle rearview camera, a 6-speaker audio system, and other safety and driver-assistance features like blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping.

On the other hand, the 8-passenger 2022 Kia Carnival features Standard equipment like 6 speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and safety features such as airbags, hill-start assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping, and more.

Similarities

Both the Chrysler Pacifica and the Kia Carnival can travel almost similar distances on a tank of gas. They also boast equal cargo space and base power.

Carnival vs Pacifica Conclusion

From this article, we can all agree that the more traditional-looking 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and the brand-new 2022 Kia Carnival are two nice minivans, and are nearly tied in every aspect of comparison. However, the 2022 Kia Carnival is the better option for those who need a stylish minivan with a unique look, low starting price, and extended warranty. On the other hand, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is a great choice for those looking for plug-in hybrid or all-wheel drive for 4-season confidence.

2022 Kia Sportage Trim Levels

The Kia Sportage is a popular choice for anyone looking at the highly competitive small crossover segment. The Sportage brings a lot of features, utility, and power at an affordable price point. Still, with four 2022 Kia Sportage trim levels, it might be hard to know which is the best for your needs. Here is how the Kia Sportage trim levels compare.

2022 Kia Sportage LX

The LX is the base 2022 Kia Sportage trim level. Despite being the most affordable model, it’s not short on features.

Powering the base model is a naturally aspirated 2.4L four-cylinder engine. The engine is capable of producing 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Connected to the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission with a Sportmatic feature, allowing the driver to shift independently. The Kia Sportage can be had in an all-wheel-drive version regardless of trim.

This 2022 Kia Sportage trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside sits a large 8-inch infotainment screen with a multitude of connectivity options. The system powers a six-speaker audio system. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard features.

All 2022 Kia Sportage trim levels come with a suite of safety features. These driver assistance features include Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Mitigation.

2022 Kia Sportage Nightfall Edition

Adding many cosmetic additions, the Nightfall Edition 2022 Kia Sportage trim level gives the small SUV a stealthier appearance.

These changes include new 18-inch alloy wheels finished in dark gray. Many exterior trim pieces are replaced with piano black versions. The addition of black roof rails also bring the look together. The interior features SynTex upholstery as well as a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel.

However, the upgrade is far from simply cosmetic. The Nightfall Edition comes equipped with foglights for increased visibility. The driver also gains a power-adjustable seat and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

2022 Kia Sportage EX

The EX Kia Sportage trim level brings even more convenience features to the equation.

A different set of machine-finished 18-inch alloy wheels adorn the LX profile. A hands-free liftgate and keyless entry with a push-button start make driving the EX trim an even more streamlined experience. Inside, the leather wrapping extends to the gear shifter, and the front seats gain heating elements. A dual-zone climate control gives greater control of cabin temperature, and a rear USB port allows rear passengers to keep their devices charged.

EX trim comes with the optional EX Technology package, further increasing its benefits. This package adds navigation and satellite radio. The audio system also receives an upgrade with an eight-speaker Harman Kardon setup. Additionally, the seats are upgraded to leather upholstery with ventilation. A wireless smartphone charging pad provides additional convenience to the forward passengers.

The package also adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go to make rush hour commutes short work.

2022 Kia Sportage SX Turbo

The SX Turbo is the most powerful of all the 2022 Kia Sportage trim levels. Replacing the standard engine is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The unit outputs 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The increased power benefits from having larger brakes, which the SX Turbo has. Additionally, this trim features 19-inch alloy wheels.

As the top trim model, the SX Turbo features all the bell and whistles found in the previously mentioned EX Technology package as standard.

2022 Kia Sorento vs 2022 Kia Telluride

Kia is of course a popular brand now in the US and a reliable choice for most families. Being a sensible, practical and tech filled line-up of SUVs that are bundled together in an affordable package. Comparing their lineup in today’s world is difficult, as the Korean car maker is releasing new models all the time. Which is why we have highlighted the major differences between Kia’s new SUVs, the Sorento and the Telluride.

First, let’s highlight the similarities which include the three row seating in both. The Telluride’s larger dimensions mean it can seat up to 8, with 3 people in the third row. Only if you need that extra space should you consider the Telluride, as the Sorento is still capable of seating up to 7.

The 2022 Telluride is great for power as it has a larger engine than the Sorento. It’s 3.8L V6 comes with 291 horsepower and is the only option for the larger SUV. With 100 less horsepower in the Sorento, it’s 2.5L inline 4 cylinder has a slightly different transmission with an 8-speed auto over the Telluride’s electronically controlled 8-speed auto setup. The Sorento comes in a Hybrid and Plug in Hybrid option too, with a 1.6L Turbo I-4 engine and parallel hybrid setup, of which the Telluride does not. Beefing up the power to 227hp.

The base specs for the Sorento are comparable, but everything is turned down a notch. With 17” wheels over the Telluride’s 18”, an 8” display over the Telluride’s 10.25”. But both have Kia’s latest Lane Keep Assist and Lane Follow Assist Tech. With a host of impressive safety features too including Auto Emergency Braking, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning (Sorento), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Avoidance Assist Rear, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control Curve (Telluride) as standard.

Surprisingly, sitting 6” higher overall, the Sorento is considered the more capable off-road than the Telluride. Despite the Telluride having just 0.2” lower ground clearance than the 4WD Sorento. The larger Telluride is of course better as a family taxi with an 8” improvement in length and 3.5” wider body.

The pricing difference and trim levels of each are noticeable too. With a $4,000 premium on the Telluride. Which is expected having a larger body, more tech and superior engine size – starting at $33,090. Both have options of two-wheel or all-wheel drive, with the Sorento tailoring off-road and adventure customers with its more rugged look and shorter front and rear body overhang for steeper gradients. The Telluride is much more for luxury car buyers who want a comfortable relaxing drive along country roads or something with more presence on the road.

Both cars are typically similar, and the more affordable Sorento can be considered the choice for off-roading, with fewer luxury features and tech than the Telluride. However, it does offer better fuel economy, as well as a good range of Hybrid options. The Telluride is a luxury capable SUV too, with greater space inside and ability to transport up to 8. Ultimately it’s up to you to decide what is best for your needs!
