The fourth generation of the Kia Sorento was launched in the fall of 2020. The new version of the SUV has been completely redesigned and is mounted on a completely new platform. The new platform provides more interior space and better driving stability in all terrains and conditions. The headroom has also been improved, and the hood was extended to give the new Kia’s flagship SUV a more aggressive look. The front fascia has been updated, the new “tiger nose” front grille and full LED headlights called “tiger eye” along with the LED taillights and rest of the design make the vehicle look strong and futuristic. The interior has also been improved, and it has a touch of luxury and comes loaded with technological features.

2023 Kia Sorento Engines

The 2023 Kia Sorento comes in 4 available engine options. The engine options will vary by trim level. The LX and S models are powered by an atmospheric 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 191 HP and 182 lb-ft of torque.  The EX, SX, SX Prestige, and SX Prestige X-line models are powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 281 HP and 311 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are married to an 8-speed automatic transmission; however, the 2.5 turbo engines use a more sophisticated, dual-clutch transmission.

2023 Kia Sorento Hybrid Engine

The 2023 Kia Sorento also comes in a hybrid engine option. The 1.6L four-cylinder turbocharged hybrid engine puts out up to 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Sorento Hybrid comes in FWD and AWD drivetrain and can get up to 39 MPG in the city. 

2023 Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid Engine

Something new and exciting about the 2023 Sorento is the launch of a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), powered by a powerful 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 177HP matched to an electric motor with 60HP, resulting in a combined output of 227 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque. The models fitted with a hybrid engine come with a 6-speed transmission and four-wheel drive. The full-electric autonomy of the new Sorento is about 32 miles with a combined range of about 460 miles.
