Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5

Electric cars are becoming more popular every day, as people become more and more interested in reducing their carbon footprint. But with so many different electric models available, it can be tough to decide which one is right for you. In this blog post, we’ll compare the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to help you make your decision. Both cars are excellent options, but one might be a better fit for your needs than the other. Keep reading to find out more!

Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 Trim Levels

Ioniq 5

The Ioniq 5 comes in SE, SEL and Limited trim levels. Each having the same 77.4kWh battery pack producing 225hp. As standard in the SE you get ultra-fast charging, capable of 10-80% in just 18 minutes, as well as 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, 12.3inch touch screen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, rearview camera and parking guide, keyless entry and start and cool features such as automatic retracting door handles.

SEL adds H-Tex™ leatherette seating, wireless phone charging, rear heating/cooling vents, heated steering wheel and ambient lighting to the interior, with auto dimming rear view mirror.

Limited trim adds 20inch wheels over the standard 19inch, remote smart park assist, premium exterior accents, rain sensing wipers, glass roof, power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, with driver seat memory support and relaxation function. For entertainment there is the Bose Sound System, heads up display and comes with a Hyundai digital key.

Kia EV6

Kia EV6 comes in trim levels based on rear or all-wheel drive. For rear wheel drive there is Light, Wind and GT Line. The All-wheel drive options are Wind and GT Line only. The same size 19inch wheels are available with the 20inch only available on the top GT Line AWD model.

Every trim level comes with heated power folding mirrors, high beam assist, rain sensing wipers, dual 12.3inch display with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, smart key, dual zone climate control, power driver’s seat and heated front seats.

All above the base trim gets a smart power tailgate, upgraded 14-speaker Meridian Sound System, vegan leather seats which are heated and ventilated, with passenger power adjustment and a vehicle-to-load external port – meaning you can power household appliances wherever you are (the Ioniq 5 comes with this too).

The upper trim levels are there for styling mostly. With a different steering wheel, set of pedals, door sill look and headliner, with some exterior touch ups added to the design making them seem different.

What you do have is an upgrade in power. With the e-AWD models producing 320hp, they pack a real punch over the RWD 225hp, or the base Light EV6 producing just 167hp.

The Light EV6 has the smaller 58kWh battery pack than the Ioniq 5, hence the lower starting price. If you upgrade to the 77.4kWh model this will cost at least another $6,100, making it cost slightly more than the Hyundai.

Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 Price

The Kia EV6 Starts at a MSRP of $40,900, and the Ioniq 5 from $44,000. Already a slightly cheaper option, the range of up to 310 miles offers a little more for your charge than the 303 miles in the Ioniq 5 (estimated), but the EV6 range varies based on trim level.

Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 Conclusion

Overall, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV 6 are similar. Kia offering a sporty and curved design over the chiseled Hyundai. The better value and range is in the Ioniq 5, but it offers less equipment as standard. The ultimate choice is basing it on design and equipment, as they are both alike.

2022 Kia Seltos Trim Levels

Kia has introduced a new ‘small’ SUV into their line up for 2022, the Seltos. Designed to sit between the Soul and the Sportage the Seltos pairs Kia’s distinctive style with practicality in a car that you can still easily nip around town in.

The 2022 Kia Seltos has 5 trim options starting at $22,590 with the LX trim up to the SX Turbo starting at $28,090.

What’s included with each trim? Let’s take a deeper look.

Kia Seltos LX

The 2022 Kia Seltos enters with the 2.0L 4-cylinder, 147HP LX Trim. This trim comes with the Intelligent Variable Transmission, a faster, more efficient automatic gearbox that is said to provide a much smoother driving feel, as well as an estimated 31mpg and all-wheel drive.

The Seltos also provides 17-inch Alloy Wheels, 8.0-inch Touchscreen Display with rear view camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Remote Keyless Entry, and Steering-Wheel Controls.

Kia has a clear focus on safety options on all their cars and there is no shortage of safety features available on the Seltos. All Trim levels come with Forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist and Rear Occupant Alert.

There are only 4 exterior colour options on the LX so if having an interesting colour is important you may want to look at the other trim options.

Kia Seltos S

Starting at $22,790 the Seltos S is the next trim option. There are 9 colour options including 3 dual colour ways offering different roof colour to body work. Same engine, transmission and power as the LX but comes as Front-Wheel drive with the option to change to All-Wheel drive.

The interior treats you with a larger 10.25-inch Touchscreen display with navigation, automatic climate control and leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Kia Seltos Nightfall Edition

The Nightfall Edition is the ‘special edition’ in this range starting from $26,790, has a 1.6L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine pushing an extra 28 BHP over the LX and S trims. The Nightfall comes as All-wheel drive with torque vectoring, and Kia’s 7-speed Quick Shift DCT Transmission.

This trim boasts 18-inch Alloy wheels with matte black finish, black roof rails and exterior accents, and cloth seats with blue stitching detail. There are the same 9 colourways available as the S as well as the same interior and safety features.

Kia Seltos EX

Next up is the EX, starting at $25,890. Only 6 exterior colour options and no dual roof colourways. However, the EX offers both grey and black SynTex interior options. The styling is slightly different as the EX has an upgraded Grille with integrated LED light bar and power sunroof.

The engine, performance and safety are the same as the S but comes in the All-Wheel drive set up and the interior provides wireless phone charging, rear USB ports, and push button start.

Kia Seltos SX Turbo

The top trim is the SX Turbo starting at $28,090. Same performance to the Nightfall but without the Nightfall styling. The SX still comes with machine finish 18-inch alloy wheels, sport steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, smart cruise control, and electronic parking brake.

With 12 colour options and 3 interior seat trims to choose from, the SX is the most customisable option.

The Seltos offers a great range of options to suit individual needs and of course as with all Kia models comes with their incredible 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

2022 Kia Carnival Towing Capacity

2022 Kia Carnival Towing Capacity

The new Kia Carnival is an excellent option for anyone looking to haul their family on long trips. The Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) capabilities expand to offer extraordinary towing abilities that rival some SUVs. After optioning a tow hitch that your local Kia dealer professionally installs, you will be able to take full advantage of towing heavy loads.

How Much Weight Can The 2022 Kia Carnival Tow?

When properly equipped, the Kia Carnival achieves a towing capacity of 3500 pounds.

With 3500 pounds of towing capacity, Carnival drivers will have many options regarding what they can tow. The Carnival can pull most utility and teardrop trailers at ease. For more adventurous outings, the Carnival can handle towing multiple motorcycles, ATVs, a teardrop trailer, or even a fishing boat.

The Kia Carnival sits as a leader in utility. While a trailer can offer additional cargo volume capabilities, the Carnival has no shortage of space in itself. The MPV can comfortably fit eight passengers in its three rows with a spacious 168.2 cubic feet of passenger volume. With the seats up, the Carnival offers 40.2 cubic feet of cargo volume. Cargo volume drastically expands to 145.1 cubic feet when you fold all the rear seats down.

The Carnival can achieve its generous towing capacity thanks to its best-in-class 3.5L V6 engine outputting 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

Towing Tips

While towing capabilities allow you to enhance your road trip, some care should still be taken when towing. Pulling a large load can change the driving dynamics you are accustomed to, so here are some general tips to note when towing with your Kia Carnival.

Practice Reversing

Backing up with a trailer can be confusing for the first few outings. When you want to go left, the trailer will go right, and vice versa. To better acclimate yourself to this change, it is recommended that you practice reversing with a trailer in a wide-open area before trying to tackle maneuvering it through tighter spaces.

Braking Distance

Be mindful of the increase in braking distance when hauling a trailer. A few extra thousand pounds will affect the braking distance of any vehicle, so make sure to start braking earlier than usual. Additionally, routinely check the tire on both your Carnival and trailer to ensure that they have an adequate amount of tread left to facilitate efficient braking. If your trailer has integrated brake lights, double-check to make sure they are connected to your tow hitch harness to mirror the lights of the Carnival.

Longer Length

Be mindful that adding a trailer will considerably increase the length of the vehicle you are controlling. Actions such as making a turn will require a bit of an adjustment. One will have to pull out slightly more than usual to ensure the trailer does not clip anything. Thankfully, Kia’s available 360-degree Surround View Monitor allows you to get a better understanding of the area around you and navigate easily through it.

Adjust Mirrors

Due to the added length of your towed object, your standard mirror positioning will not be adequate. Make sure to compensate and have your mirrors provide a wider field of view.

2022 Kia K5 vs 2022 Honda Accord

2022 Kia K5 vs 2022 Honda Accord

The Kia K5 is the newer mid-size sedan, but how does it compare against its Japanese rival the Honda Accord? With years of legacy to fall back on, can the Kia compete well in terms of safety, practicality, and features? What are the major similarities and differences between the K5 and the Accord?

2022 Kia K5

This generation has been refreshed for the 2022 model year. With captivating looks and efficient engine choices, it is a strong contender in the sedan market. With a 1.6L engine it may be small, but it is boosted with a turbo charger and 8-speed auto transmission.

Sport mode adds to the driving flair, and the GT-Line spec adds 18-inch wheels with some upgraded meaner looking exterior pieces. The highest GT spec comes with a 2.5L engine and 290 horsepower, ideal for a quick runabout. Despite optional all-wheel drive on other trim levels, the GT trim comes in front wheel drive only.

Interior is of good quality, with comfy seating and is extra supportive. The infotainment is sophisticated too, with an 8-inch touch screen housing most of the controls and a minimalist look.

The standard features include wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Despite blind spot monitoring not being standard, the safety feature list is quite extensive. With Auto Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist and auto High Beams to keep you safe. Upgrades include larger wheels, more USB ports, and a large panoramic sunroof.

MPG: Up to 38 Highway, 29 City

Power: From 180hp – 1.6L Turbocharged Gas Engine.

Price: From $23,790 MSRP

2022 Honda Accord

A huge following and popularity for generations, the Accord is Honda’s core sedan. With a 1.5L unit, it has similar MPG rating to the K5 at up to 38 on the highway. An upgraded 2.0L Turbocharged unit can be had with 252hp and a 10-speed auto transmission. A further Hybrid model is available with 212hp, having a combined 48mpg and is a lot more efficient than Kia’s lineup. However, all Accords offer front wheel drive only.

Whilst rear seat legroom is better than the Kia K5, the overall look is less exciting. Interior offers more buttons and switches to operate controls, which can be appealing for old-school drivers, the base model has plenty of equipment too.

Upper trim levels switch the cloth fabric to leather but does not upgrade the standard 8-inch touch screen – the same as the K5. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are standard, paired with a 160W sound system to blast your playlists.

Safety features are good too, with the Honda Sensing Suite coming with Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keep Assist as standard.

MPG: Up to 48 Highway (Hybrid), 30 City (Gas)

Power: From 187hp – 1.5L Turbocharged Gas Engine.

Price: From $26,120 MSRP

Similarities Between K5 and Accord

Trunk space

Safety Features

5-Star NHTSA Safety Rating.

Differences Between K5 and Accord:

Powertrain options – no hybrid in Kia’s lineup

Drivetrain Options – no all-wheel drive in Honda’s lineup

Price – Honda starts at $3,000 more MSRP

Rear Legroom and Headroom is more in the Accord

K5 vs Accord Conclusion

The K5 is exciting to drive, looks the part and has optional all-wheel drive to handle more extreme weather conditions. It starts at a lower price point too but has a couple of drawbacks including rear legroom. The Honda Accord is a practical family sedan that can fit a lot inside. With a Hybrid option it offers fuel saving in the long run but is more expensive up-front.

2022 Kia Seltos Fuel Economy

Kia Seltos Fuel Economy

The 2022 Kia Seltos is an excellent subcompact crossover SUV because of its roomy interior, class-leading cargo space, intuitive infotainment system, and awe-inspiring technology. It may be no surprise that the 2022 Kia Seltos will appeal to most shoppers who are seeking a budget SUV for driving enjoyment, but how fuel-efficient is the car, and what are its fuel economy ratings? Keep reading to learn more!

The 2022 Kia Seltos is offered in two engine options. There is a 2.0-liter Multi-Port Injection (MPI) Atkinson engine that cranks out 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. This engine delivers power to the wheels using IVT transmission. It is available on the LX, S, and EX trims.

The second engine option is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), which churns out 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. The engine sends power to the wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 1.6-liter Turbo engine is available on the SX turbo and Nightfall Edition trims.

2022 Kia Seltos MPG

The most efficient 2022 Kia Seltos (the LX model) with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, and the IVT transmission sees mileage fall to 29 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. Those are some of the best fuel economy figures in the subcompact crossover category.

The least efficient 2022 Kia Seltos is any 2.0-liter equipped engine trims with all-wheel-drive, which is rated at 27/31/29 mpg in the city, highway, and 29 combined, respectively. Further, models with the turbocharged engine with front-wheel drivetrain get, fuel economy estimates of 29 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined. On the other hand, the 1.6-liter Turbo engine with all-wheel drive, boasts impressive fuel economy figures at 30/25/27 mpg in the city, in the highway, and combined, respectively.

2022 Kia Seltos Fuel Economy Versus Competitors

For purposes of comparison, Kia Seltos stand toe to toe with other small SUVs that are equipped with FWD. These are the Mazda CX-30, Nissan Sport Rogue, and Hyundai Venue, boast an estimated combined fuel rating of 28, 28, and 32 mpg, respectively. But all these are short of the 31 mpg for the 2022 Kia Seltos.

With regards to Kia Seltos’ rivals with all-wheel drive, the Subaru Crosstrek (with automatic transmission), the CX-30, and the Rogue Sport both deliver a combined fuel rating of 29 mpg. And in the turbo engine segment, the car ranks among the Hyundai Kona and the Jeep Renegade, which deliver a combined 27 mpg.

As far as car wheelbase goes, the Seltos edges out the Renegade and the Kona by 5.4 inches and 8 inches, respectively.

Conclusion

Kia Seltos is one of the strongest candidates in the subcompact crossover segment that strike the perfect balance between practicality and comfort. Other than boasting generous passenger and cargo space, Kia is one of the most fuel-efficient sports utility vehicles around, and it offers zippier handling.

2022 Kia Seltos vs 2022 Kia Sportage

Kia have really upped their game in the last 10 years providing a very competitive line up of cars. The Sportage has been a long standing and successful model for the brand and has had several face lifts over the years. Now the 2022 model has a ‘little’ sister in the form of the Kia Seltos

From a glance you may be wondering what the difference is between the two cars other than the slight exterior styling differences, or maybe you have been considering a Kia SUV and now have a new contender in the mix.

Let’s take a deeper dive into what these cars have to offer.

2022 Seltos vs Sportage: Performance

The 2022 Kia Seltos enters with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine providing 147HP with Intelligent Variable transmission and a 1.6L turbo charged engine pushing 175HP, a 7-speed Quick-Shift DCT transmission. The 2022 Kia Sportage on the other hand, enters the market with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine providing 181HP. Standard front wheel drive but, offers all-wheel drive options and a fuel economy of 30mpg.

2022 Seltos vs Sportage: Safety

Kia has a clear focus on safety options on all their cars and there is no shortage of safety features available on both the Seltos and the Sportage. Both have Blind-Spot Collision features, the Seltos has BCA-R (Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist-Rear) which uses brake technology to gently apply the front wheel brake to keep the car in lane whereas, the Sportage only has BCW (Blind-Spot Warning); a radar-based system that uses visual and auditory cues to inform the driver of objects in the blind-spot.

Both the Seltos and Sportage come with Forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning. The Seltos also has High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist and Rear Occupant Alert.

2022 Seltos vs Sportage: Comfort

The Seltos and Sportage provide the comfortable interior customers come to expect from Kia. An 8.0-inch Touchscreen Display with rear view camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Remote Keyless Entry, Wireless Charging, Dual-Level Cargo Floor, and Steering-Wheel Controls come as standard.

The Sportage however, also comes with heated front seats, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and the option to upgrade to Harman Kardon Premium Sound System.
